Jakarta International Blues Festival 2011

We started the Indonesian Blues Association with one common goal, to introduce blues and to keep blues alive in Indonesia. As an association, we are formed by musicians, music enthusiast, music critics, creative industry professionals, students and other professionals whom are all shared the same joy, listening to music, playing music and creating music, especially Blues.

Our association was established in 2007 and that's when we start our journey, we called that musical concert "Journey." Combining modern musical instrument with classical orchestra, the Journey concert series takes the audience to a musical journey from the birth of blues to the era of classic rock. The journey concert was held both in Jakarta and Bandung. In Jakarta we held our prestigious event at the Rolling Stones Café Back Yard, while in Bandung, we take on the El Dorado and welcome all musical enthusiast into our Journey Concert. Attracting more than 2,000+ music enthusiast, journalist and musicians, InaBlues has found the confident in building a much greater musical concert, the first international Blues festival in Indonesia, Jakarta Blues Festival 2008.

In 2008, Jakarta International Blues Festival was held in Istora Senayan as a whole day festival appearing with only one stage and performing more than 25 blues bands, both international and national artists. The legendary Livin Blues from Amsterdam closed a day full of festivities with pride and joy. With limited promotions, sponsorship and support, Jakarta International Blues Festival 2008 was officially launched & opened by the Governor of Jakarta, Dr. Ing. Fauzi Bowo, where the governor has proclaimed Jakarta will be the city of blues.

2009 is the year where blues is making a scene and people are much aware of blues.  With the theme “back to the roots of all music,” Jakarta Blues Festival 2009 was one of the most successful events in 2009.  With the legendary Jan Akkerman from the 1960’s band Focus, the crowd was fantastic, from 6.000 – 9.000 people filled the supposedly “badminton” stadium cheering for the new found glory Bluesism.  With the theme "Back to the Roots of All Music," Jakarta International Blues Festival has proclaimed itself to be the biggest Blues Festival in South East Asia.  Rolling out 5 performance stage and appearing more than 350 bands and musicians from all over the world, Indonesian Blues Association (InaBlues) has successfully turn Jakarta into the Capital city of Blues in Southeast Asia.

As one of blues star and legend, the song entitled "Still Got The Blues," by Gary Moore becomes our 2010 Jakarta International Blues Festival theme, where we pulled yet another successful festival and making it from a one day blues festival into a two days of sunny and relaxing blues festival.  With great reviews and fantastic feedback from all blues enthusiast and the general mass, Jakarta Blues Festival 2010 returned with a much grandeur scale, 2 Days 4 performing stages and an additional blues festival, the Bali Blues Festival.  With the theme “still got the blues” both Jakarta Blues Festival and Bali Blues Festival delivered a very Rock N Rolla performance. Appearances by Gary Clark Jr. (United States), Kara Grainger (United States & Australia), Matt Schofield (England), Ana Popovic (Yugoslavia), Kevin Borich (Australia), Soulmate (India), Kim Mok Kyung (Korea), Lance Lopez (United States) and much more.

With 2011 Jakarta International Blues Festival is just around the corner, InaBlues is proud to present the legendary John Mayall. He was the founder of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and, “as a gifted talent-scout, has been influential in the careers of many instrumentalists, including Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Peter Green, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Mick Taylor, Don "Sugarcane" Harris, Harvey Mandel, Larry Taylor, Aynsley Dunbar, Hughie Flint, Jon Hiseman, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Andy Fraser, Johnny Almond, Walter Trout, Coco Montoya, and Buddy Whittington.” (Wikipedia).  As one of the greatest blues mentor to Eric Claption, Gary Moore and hundreds and thousands of guitarist and musicians, has agreed to perform in Jakarta international Blues Festival along with other blues artist and musicians.
